Striped Bass Bonanza: Tampa's Backcountry Fishing Adventure

I had a great time out on the water with Soundarya for our test 3 trip with Ashish Test Company. December in Tampa can be a hit or miss for fishing, but we lucked out with some fantastic conditions. We met up in Shalimar FL at 11:30 pm, which is an unusual start time, but it worked out well for what we had planned. The weather was partly cloudy throughout the day, giving us a nice mix of sun and shade. The water was great, which always makes for better fishing.

We focused on backcountry fishing, mixing it up with some surf fishing, bottom fishing, and inshore fishing techniques. It's always fun to switch things up and see what works best on any given day. The highlight of our trip was when Soundarya hooked into a big Striped Bass. That fish put up a heck of a fight, but Soundarya handled it like a pro. When we finally got it in the boat, it measured a solid 34 inches - a real beauty and a great catch for Tampa waters.

Throughout the day, we tried different spots and techniques. The partly cloudy weather actually worked in our favor, giving us some breaks from the sun and keeping the fish active. It's always a good day when you can land a fish like that Striper, but the whole experience of being out there, trying different methods, and enjoying the Tampa backcountry made it even better. Even when the fish weren't biting, we had a great time just being out on the water and taking in the surroundings.
